It took me a while to contemplate whether to blog or not to blog but then I decided I have nothing to lose. I have varied interest which I would like to share and one of them is languages. I am a fan of new languages. I can't be speaking and writing now if I had stuck with my own language which is Tagalog or Filipino language. I like my own language but if I did not learn English then I won't be blogging now. The thing is with so many Filipinos all over the world, each Filipino have learnt a different language aside from English and Tagalog. Many Filipinos like me who had been to different countries have learnt and speak another language wherever they work. Isn't it amazing to speak another language than your own? For me, it is an added bonus to my education. Learning another language is not easy but it can be done. My sister when she went to Israel and work there, she learnt how to speak the Hebrew language which I find a fascinating language to speak and learn, too. I think foreign languages are wonderful to learn even if you can't write but can speak it. It is better than not speaking a new language at all.
When I worked in Kuwait a few years back, I can't understand the Arabic language but I was determined to learn even though I find it very hard to begin with. Don't get me wrong, when I went to school, I was taught the English language as well as my own language and that is quite different but learning a new language by myself was quite scary and intimidating. But with sheer willpower and determination, I managed to learn the Kuwaiti spoken Arabic. I haven't learn how to write in Arabic but I think it was enough to learn the spoken version. At least it got me by for five years at least. I made an article about it in Hubpages and hope to help those who want to learn the spoken Arabic too. It is one of the few articles that are pulling lots of views actually so I am very happy.
